How to Choose a Washing Machine on Rent in Lucknow

A semi-automatic washing machine requires manual intervention – moving the laundry from the wash tub to the spin tub. Fully-automatic washing machines complete the wash cycles without intervention.

Factor	Semi-automatic	Fully-automatic top load	Front load
Water use per cycle	Moderate, manual fill	Moderate–high, automatic fill	Low, automatic fill
Manual effort	Transfer between wash and spin tubs	None	None
Wash cycle time	~30 min	~45 min	~90 min
Best for	Budget renters, shared flats and PGs	Families wanting convenience	Fabric care, water efficiency

Check the capacity before choosing a washing machine on rent – a 6.5 kg is a good choice for bachelors or couples. A 7 kg washing machine is popular among families. An 8 kg washing machine is mostly rented by larger families.

Buying vs Renting a Washing Machine in Lucknow

A semi-automatic washing machine on a 12-month plan costs ₹409/month, or ₹4,908 across the year. A comparable machine costs ₹10,000–₹15,000 to buy new.

Cost factor	Renting (semi-automatic, 12-month plan)	Buying
Upfront cost	Refundable security deposit only	₹10,000–₹15,000
Cost over 12 months	₹4,908	Full purchase price paid on day one
Repairs and servicing	Included for the full tenure	Out of pocket, and typically out of warranty after year one
Exit at end of tenancy	Deposit refunded within 7 working days of pickup, after QC	Resale at a loss, or relocation via packers and movers

Bottom line: For a stay of two to three years or less, renting works out cheaper once resale losses and post-warranty repair costs are considered. Buying starts to make sense only for a longer, settled stay.

Frequently Asked Questions — Washing Machine on Rent in Lucknow

1. How much does a washing machine cost on rent per month in Lucknow?

Washing machine rental in Lucknow starts at ₹401 per month for a semi-automatic machine on a 36-month plan. The same model costs ₹512 per month on a 3-month plan. Different models are listed, up to ₹1,175 per month for an inverter front-load machine with a built-in heater.

2. Semi-automatic or fully-automatic — which is better value on rent?

A semi-automatic machine is the lower-cost option, starting at ₹401/month, but requires the user to transfer laundry by hand between the wash and spin tubs. A fully automatic top-load machine starts at ₹555/month and runs the full cycle without intervention, which suits households that prioritise convenience over the lowest price.

3. What happens if a rented washing machine breaks down?

A repair request is raised through the Rentomojo app, with photos attached if relevant, and a technician is assigned within 24-48 hours. Repairs are covered under the rental plan for the full tenure. Mojo Secure, an optional waiver, covers accidental damage.

4. Is renting a washing machine cheaper than buying in Lucknow?

A semi-automatic washing machine on a 12-month plan costs ₹4,908 across the year, with no upfront cost and free servicing and repairs included. A comparable machine costs ₹10,000–₹15,000 to buy, and resale after two to three years typically recovers only 25–35% of that. For stays under two to three years, renting works out cheaper.

5. Which washing machine capacity suits a family of four?

A 7 kg fully automatic machine suits a family of three to four who do regular laundry. Larger households or those running frequent heavy loads are better matched to an 8 kg machine, which handles more per cycle and needs fewer washes per week.

6. Which washing machine brands are available on rent in Lucknow?

Samsung, Haier and Whirlpool washing machines are available for rent in Lucknow. Check the Rentomojo app to confirm the features.

7. Is a semi-automatic machine enough for a shared flat in Lucknow?

A semi-automatic machine, starting at ₹401/month, suits a shared flat or PG well for moderate laundry loads, since the manual tub transfer is a small trade-off against the lowest rent in the range. Households wanting to skip that step can upgrade to a fully automatic model for ₹555/month.
