Rent vs Buy a Fridge in Pune

A new single-door fridge (190L) costs between ₹12,000 and ₹20,000, and the resale value is 40-50% at exit. It takes time to find a potential buyer. If you rent a fridge of the same capacity, it will cost ₹652/mo on a 12-month plan.

Scenario	Buy (190L single-door fridge)	Rent from Rentomojo (12 months)
Upfront spend	₹17,000	One-time refundable security deposit
Total over 12 months	₹17,000	₹652 × 12 = ₹7,824
Resale value at exit	₹6,800 – ₹8,500 (40–50%)	₹0 (deposit refunded)
Effective net cost	₹8,500 – ₹10,200	₹7,824 + security deposit (refundable)
Maintenance	Your cost	Covered by Rentomojo
Exit process	Find a buyer, arrange pickup	Schedule a return

Bottom line: For a 12-month stay, renting a single-door fridge (190L) at ₹652/month (~₹7,824/year) is slightly more cost-effective and convenient when you factor in maintenance and resale.
